Usually when visiting Portugal and asking for a beer, there is normally only a couple of options – Super Bock or Sagres!

Most bars and restaurants in Lisbon have no (or very few) craft beer options, with the warm climate often asking for a light, cold, crisp lager.

However, as delicious as the local beer is (especially alongside some salty cod fish!), there has been increasing demand in recent years, from both locals and tourists, for Craft Beer in Lisbon.

Below we have selected our choice of the best Craft Beer bars in Lisbon as of 2024 to enjoy after a tiring day exploring the attractions:

Best Lisbon Craft Beer Bars:

1. Crafty Corner

Crafty Beer Lisbon is one of my favourite places to get craft beers in Lisbon. They offer an excellent selection of local beers, with the taps being rotated weekly. They serve food, with lots of tapas options and bar snacks to enjoy alongside the ales.

The location is excellent, right in the centre next to the Cathedral, and the interior has a quirky vibe adding to the excellent atmosphere and ambience. The place is always full of craft beer fans, and the staff really know there beer, adding to the experience

One of the highlights of Crafty Corner is the ‘paddles’ they offer – effectively a sample of multiple beers in a wooden paddle. This comes in two sizes, a 5 paddle, or a 12 paddle! The 12 paddle comes with all of the guest beers on tap (they rotate these every week). The best way to sample the best of Lisbon’s craft beer scene.

Address: R. de São João da Praça 95, 1100-519 Lisboa, Portugal

Craft Beer Highlights: 12 Guest Beer taps (rotated weekly), Selection of local Portugal beers – try the tasting ‘paddles’ where you can sample all 12!.

2. Oitava Colina

Oitava Colina is a local brewery that also has a few taprooms across Lisbon to taste the delicious craft beers they brew.

The name Oitava Colina translates roughly to ‘8th Hill’ and is named after the area the brewery was established (Graca) which is where they have their main tap room bar. Here you can find 10 fresh beers on tap (updated regularly) as well as a large selection of other bottled and canned beers.

The tap room also serves food with smaller snacks as well as pizzas and larger meals. They even have pop-up food events regularly where you can try some of the best street food in Lisbon.

Address: Rua Damasceno Monteiro 8A, Lisbon 1170-108 Portugal

Website: www.oitavacolina.pt

Craft Beer Highlights: If it’s available try the stout Regalo – it’s made from a traditional local cheese tart from Sintra and is very sweet!.

3. Duque Brewpub

Duque Brewpub is a craft beer hidden gem in Lisbon. The bar is actually situated rather uniquely half way up a flight of steps (as is common in hilly Lisbon) and has a lovely outdoor seating area to enjoy the beers.

They have 12 beers on tap at any one time and these are regularly rotated with a combination of local and international craft beers. This includes a few beers that are brewed on-site.

The vibe and atmosphere is relaxed, with knowledgable staff who offer plenty of recommendations. They offer tasting trays of 5 different beers so you can sample the finest beers in Lisbon.

Address: Calçada do Duque 51, 1200-156 Lisboa, Portugal

Website: www.duquebrewpub.com/

Craft Beer Highlights: 12 Guest Beer taps (rotated often), I recommend trying the White Stout which is brewed on-site.

4. Dois Corvos

Dois Corvos was probably the first craft brewery in Lisbon to open its own taproom. As of 2024 they now have two taprooms, with one in central downtown Lisbon.

Some of the staples on tap here are Finisterra and Avenida (a lovely blonde ale), and they even developed a lovely imperial stout named Pastel de Nata, after the famous Portuguese tart. The beer selection is excellent and matches the friendly and relaxed atmosphere.

Address: R. Cap. Leitão 94, 1950-052 Lisboa, Portugal

Website: www.doiscorvos.pt

Craft Beer Highlights: Rotating selection of 12 fresh beers on tap as well as bottles and cans. I recommend trying the ‘Weekend’ (Hazy IPA) can which was delicious.
