Pilar 7 Bridge Experience Overview

The Pilar 7 Bridge Experience in Lisbon lets you explore the iconic 25 de Abril Bridge by riding a lift up one of its pillars.

It takes you 80 metres above ground, where you get incredible views over the city and the Tagus River. Along the way, there are interactive exhibits in both Portuguese and English explaining how the bridge was built and why it matters.

You’ll also find a detailed scale model on the first floor, which gives a better sense of the bridge’s structure and some key moments from its history.

If you want to take things a step further, there’s an optional virtual reality add-on. It shows parts of the bridge that aren’t accessible in real life and offers a unique perspective on how it was designed and constructed. It’s fully immersive and we definitely recommend it.

In terms of accessibility, please note that the lift to the 26th-floor viewpoint is currently out of service, so you’ll have to climb 372 stairs to reach the top. This might be a concern for those with reduced mobility.

The rest of the Pilar 7 Bridge experience on the ground floor, including the interactive exhibits and scale model, is fully accessible and suitable for everybody.

In terms of facilities, there are toilets by the entrance, but no café or shop on site. For food and drinks, we recommend visiting LX Factory pre or post visit to the Pilar 7 Bridge Experience as it’s is just a short walk away.
